With only 5 days until the primary elections in North Carolina, Bikers USA and B.O.L.T. of NC announces that their analysis of the NC candidates is #1 ranked in Google for a search of NC PRIMARY CANDIDATES ENDORSEMENT. This has safety nazis who forced a helmet onto our heads sweating bullets, just like we sweat under those hot helmets in the Carolina summer. Our answer to them? They can all go suck eggs.

So anyhow, there I was, minding my own business, having a wonderful ride. I was retracing the route we took during the NC Bikesafe training course. From Tryon Rd, I took a left onto Garner Rd, and passed by the NC State Highway Patrol Headquarters. In my rearview mirror, I see what appears to be a truck or SUV following way too close. I was in fear for my life, but didn’t speed up. I was about to signal the lunatic tailgater to go around, when the blue lights came on. During the traffic stop, Trooper K.E. Jackson suggested I move to South Carolina! Obviously, I had to contact Internal Affairs and file a complaint. Here’s what I got from Lt James Blank, Internal Affairs. He sent me this: NC STATE HIGHWAY PATROL PROPAGANDA PAMPHLET.
Note: There are some people with active imaginations who put these lies together. The law is still vague, because there is still no list.

The appearance of conformity is not necessarily compliance. Likewise, the appearance of nonconfomity is not necessarily non-compliance. When laws are designed to trick the people into following a model of  conformance and perceived compliance, all bets are off.

Biker Charities helps your fellow bikers and their immediate families when they need emergency assistance to get them through especially difficult times. East Coast Helmet Law Protest!   May 18, 2008
On your way back from Myrtle Beach Bike Week, stop in at South of the Border, in Dillon SC, which is the northernmost exit off I-95 of South Carolina, to protest helmet laws and participate in a freedom ride. Last year, there were only a couple dozen freedom fighters from SC, NC, and VA who joined us, but we had such a good time that we've been looking forward to the next one all year!
Here's the ritual, so you will know it every year:
The East Coast Freedom Ride is always the Sunday of the last weekend of Myrtle Beach Bike Week.
We always put our kickstands up at 11am.
If you want to wear a helmet and ride in support of those who choose, you are VERY WELCOME to join us. We do not protest the device. We protest the law which is unconstitutional and does not allow our right to choose.
In 2007, groups represented included ABATE of SC, ABATE of VA, and BOLT of the Carolinas.

Tommy Thompson's 14th Annual Reunion Ride
The hotel room block will be released in two weeks so make your plans now. Tommy's premium Ride June 8-12th provides participants with daily rides and evening parties. We will be stationed at the Holiday Inn just outside of the Smokey Mountain National Forest in NC where we will have evening parties and day rides. Day rides will take us to Dragon's Tail, Clingman's Dome, Cherhola Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Wheels Through Time in Maggie Valley. Evening parties will include a Cocktail Party, Casino Night, Pig Roast celebrating Stormin' Norman & Christina's wedding, Outdoor Theatre "Unto these Hills" and Tommy Thompson's Bikers Ball hosted by Jerry & Kathy Wiener. MAGGIE VALLEY FREEDOM RIDE
Celebrate NC BIKERS FREEDOM RIDE DAY with a freedom ride from the Wheels Through Time Museum. Please eat before arriving because we’re not stopping for brunch. Gather at 10am. Kickstands up at 10:30am. Destination will either be the courthouse in Bryson City which is already so familiar with bikers that they put up a sign that says “BIKERS ALWAYS WELCOME” or the Bumcombe County Courthouse in Asheville.
BOLTSTERS and others who rode out from the Eastern part of North Carolina in order to meet Pan and Vicki will probably stay around to have a nice ride on Friday, either to GRMCC or Tail of the Dragon or the Natural Bridge.

WNC Freedom Ride
Western North Carolina Freedom Ride from Bumcombe County Courthouse in Asheville to the Hendersonville County Courthouse. This is to call attention to the helmet law, and to continue our freedom call, “Let those who ride decide.”
"The government cannot make any objective standards without taking on liability, and since they are expressly forbidden from taking on liability, they can never make an objective standard for helmets. New File Uploaded: Terry Malpass Brief
On November 26, 2007, Terry Malpass went to court in Kinston NC for a helmet citation. Unlike most NC helmet citations which are dismissed routinely by the DA, with no trial, NC v Malpass actually went to trial, and WON. Terry was kind enough to allow us all to benefit from the brief he used. This file is in Word format. There is also a NC v Malpass .pdf format if you like.
